Sá Carneiro airport is located 11 km north of the city. It is served by most of the major european companies and some lowcost, providing fast connections to Europe, and some intercontinental routes. There is a metro connection from the airport to the city centre. To use the metro system you have to buy a card called "Andante" in which you charge your tickets.More information about the metro can be found in the metro web page.
By trainIntercity and Alfa Pendular trains connect Porto with Lisbon and other major cities. All trains heading south leave from Campanhã Station. By carPorto is a transport hub in the north of the country. Major motorways provide fast access to Spain and the south (Lisbon and Algarve). A1 is the major motorway and connects Porto with Lisbon.
