On 26 June 2007, the INSPIRE Committee had its first meeting. The INSPIRE Committee is a Regulatory Committee of Member States representatives and plays a central role in the regulatory process. The task of the INSPIRE Committee will be to express its opinion on the draft Implementing Rules proposed by the Commission in the form of a vote.
The aim of this fist meeting was to agree on the rules of procedure of the Committee itself. In addition, the Commission presented an overview of the INSPIRE-related activities so far.

- 15-May-07 Data Specifications: Call for comments on the Generic Conceptual model D2.5
The Generic Conceptual Model(D 2.5) of the INSPIRE Drafting Team “Data Specifications” is now available for comments from SDICs and LMOs.
The Generic Conceptual Model is not a draft Implementing Rule, but a document that is targeted to help in the process of developing Data Specifications that will eventually become Implementing Rules. The individual themes (as defined in the Annexes I, II and III of the Directive and refined in D2.3 'Definition of Annex Themes and Scope') have to be modelled based on this Generic Conceptual Model according to the 'Methodology for Specification Development' that will be described in D2.6 document. (to be published later this year)
- 15-May-07 Data Specifications: Call for comments on the Definition of Annex Themes and Scope D2.3
The Definition of INSPIRE Annex Themes and Scope (D 2.3) of the INSPIRE Drafting Team “Data Specifications” is now available for comments from SDICs and LMOs.
Please note this is not an INSPIRE Implementing Rule. Implementing Rules will be developed for each theme listed in the annexes of the Directive at a later stage.
This document rather defines a firm starting point for developing specifications for the Implementing Rules. As such, it has paramount importance and will be used as prime reference together with the INSPIRE Generic Conceptual Model (D 2.5), Methodology for Specification Development (D 2.6) and Guidelines for encoding (D 2.7). (D 2.6 and D2.7 to be published later this year)
Material for the review process include:
- D2.3: Definition of Annex Themes and Scope
- D2.2: Survey of Initiatives Relevant to INSPIRE Data Specifications
- 18-Jan-07 INSPIRE Directive - Joint text approved by the Conciliation Committee.
